I wrote an update to How2Duo, in response to some criticism I received from users of the Goat Format War League server. They were very helpful in outlining what would make that article more useful to its audience, so here's the new and improved version: How2Duo2
I managed to finish that article the morning I left for Philadelphia to compete in the massive 64 player GGP at the Garden of Earthly Delights the following day. I brought Chaos Warriors with triple Smashing Ground and no Jar/Upstart tech and went 2-4 lol. My sideboard helped me throughout the day but a lot of YGO happened. I made two misplays to my knowledge; one misplay cost me a game, another did not, luckily. The first was a Solemn that didn't need to be activated; I was terrified of losing tempo in the mirror so I took out a BK with it that I could have crashed with my own. I played much better against the Warrior mirror this time around other than that, but Chaos Turbo managed to pull ahead on me more than once in the tournament. Means I need more experience fighting them, since the deck can be geared to be pretty strong against them at least in game 1. Still not sure I want Dustshoot in main because it can be so bad in the mirror. Zombies also got the better of me, despite having some hate in the mainboard, I didn't expect them enough to side for them. Didn't end up fighting Panda Burn like I thought I would though. Considering how utterly packed the field was with strong players, I should feel good about taking any wins at all tbh. My buddy Carl brought Library FTK that sided into Stein because he had zero experience with Goat format and needed a deck where he wouldn't need to know what his opponent's cards were. He punted a game but luck in general wasn't much on his side either. He did get a match in where he FTK'd someone with Library then in game two OTK'd them with Stein + Limiter Removal, though, and I do feel bad for that poor guy. My friend Samie brought a strange deck we had workshopped some together that might best be described as Monarch Return, which he got into the Top 16 with. I may write up a profile on it because it is rather neat and I'm happy to see it perform so well. You may have noticed a slowed pace of writing. This is because I'm trying to hone my skills, and write a few good articles at a sustainable pace, rather than risk producing another How2Duo in that frenetic June I wrote so much in.
